I've been to Scotland a number of times and have a real liking for Mortlach 25 year old. Does this count ? Can I join ?  ("Mortlach" ...... that's a fine malt whisky ..... ed.)

Back in 1986 a group of friends (one of Scottish heritage) and I went up to Mull to spend a week in a crofter’s cottage near Bunessan. Having spent the evening at a Deep Purple concert (wearing my new leather walking boots to try to break them in) I caught the midnight train with them up to Glasgow. We spent an enjoyable 2 hours avoiding drunks at Glasgow station from 6.00am waiting for a train to Oban and then a much better 4 hours in a pub in Oban waiting for a ferry across to Craignure. We duly got the ferry only to find that there was no bus on the other side on a Sunday and we had to walk the 20+ miles across the island carrying large packs in temperatures that were rapidly heading towards freezing. Did I mention it was January? Luckily an open pickup stopped to give us a lift and, after a detour to pick up the driver’s wife who had been scuba diving in a lake, we were delivered to the pub in Bunessan. Great we thought, a whiskey, a warm fire and a warm welcome  well the first 2 anyway. After thawing out from the journey we hiked the 4 miles in the dark to the cottage  arriving at 1.00am Had a great holiday but we never let the same guy do the planning again
